Jalisa Haggins is a two-time Emmy Award–winning content strategist, former news producer, and digital storyteller with a background in art and film.

During her professional career, she has interwoven her art, film, and communication skills to create impactful content. She has organized and coordinated high-level projects such as 2020 election day coverage, worldwide breaking news coverage, multi-platform social media campaigns, and large-scale content initiatives for healthcare and mission-driven brands.

Before Jalisa began her broadcast career, she trained in photography, video, visual arts, and film studies at The University of Oklahoma (OU). During her time at OU, she created a short film that was featured in the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival (2010), curated several interactive gallery shows, fundraisers, and events with The Norman Arts Council, and exhibited her own artwork in multiple galleries throughout Oklahoma. She also appeared in the short film 1 in 3, directed by Laguria Davis, which explores the perpetuation of domestic abuse in America.

After graduation, Jalisa joined the board of The Norman Arts Council and began working as a news editor at KOKH-TV in Oklahoma City, where her broadcast career began. She soon became the news producer for Good Day Oklahoma. Two years later, she moved to Nashville, Tennessee to join the historic WSMV-TV Channel 4 newsroom. While working in Nashville, Jalisa was nominated for four Emmy Awards and won twice. During her time with the news team, the station earned an Edward R. Murrow Award, one of the most prestigious journalism honors in the world.

Throughout her years in the newsroom, Jalisa developed her writing, communication, strategic coordination, and storytelling skills—learning to translate complex information into clear, compelling narratives. Outside of work, she deepened her passion for traveling, connecting with new people, and learning about different cultures.

In 2019, Jalisa made the decision to change careers to create more opportunities to travel and pursue creative work. She entered the world of social media and digital marketing, building a diverse portfolio across beauty, automotive and tech, business, non-profit, healthcare, and accounting. Her work led to an invitation from Acadium, a digital marketing learning platform, to be a featured guest on their podcast.

While working freelance, Jalisa founded a small social media and content agency called Live Your Basics in 2020. Running an agency clarified her long-term goals and led her to focus on branding, content creation, design, narrative development, and digital curation across industries.

Jalisa now uses her skills as a content strategist and brand storyteller to help organizations create, design, and coordinate high-level content that resonates. She specializes in translating complex, clinical, or technical information into clear, human-centered messaging—helping brands connect with their audiences while making meaningful impact in the communities they serve.
